Supporting Professionals
Physiotherapists and Allied Health Professionals
Physiotherapy is an important adjunct to orthopaedics and helps to speed up recovery. There are many conditions that are treated with physiotherapy and may not require surgery. Some surgical procedures require specific rehabilitation programmes. Physiotherapy aims to relieve pain, restore maximum movement and function.
David has established a close working relationship with many local physiotherapists and is happy to recommend a practise.

Podiatrists
The scope of podiatric practice falls into several categories including, children, high risk patients (especially diabetics), foot surgery and biomechanics.
Biomechanics is concerned with preservation, restoration and development of the function of the foot and its associated structures.
There are many biomechanical investigations podiatrists use to help them assess and evaluate the patients they treat. A lot of biomechanical problems are treated with orthotics. These are insoles custom made specifically for each patient that aim to reduce symptoms and improve function. Some podiatrists manufacture orthotics themselves but many will use commercial orthotic labs.
